Ostomy Resolutions® and Short, Flush, and Recessed Stomas

The Ostomy Resolutions® Stoma Guard helps convex appliances by maintaining consistent pressure or contact around the stoma. For those, like me, whose stomas are short, flush or recessed, it means that waste empties more efficiently into the pouch, which is the point of using convex appliances. Using the stoma guard, you feel supported and secure at all times and helps prevent output from leaking behind the skin barrier. Form fitted clothing and a regular wide belt of the kind worn in your pant's belt loops allow you to tighten or loosen it, to the desired level of comfort for you. The 2 1/4" adapter may be the best option for this kind of support because it is fitted with a ring that keeps its inner wall from flexing too much. I wear a two-piece 1 3/4" flange and the adapter rests on the flange base where the pouch connects and which is close to the stoma giving me support where I need it. The outer circumference of the guard system prevents blowouts if I should happen to have a compromise. But even in the case of a compromise, the breach is only minor.
